Bolt Testing Procedures Completed By Tension Testers So Requirements Are Met

Baco Enterprises provides varied bolt testing procedures to help ensure that our customers are in compliance when they purchase bolts from us.

Our tension testers perform Skidmore testing. During this process, an assembly consisting of a bolt, nut, and washer is inserted into calibrated tension reading equipment. The assembly is then tightened in the same manner as it would be when being installed into a steel connection.

The tightening persists until the spline shears off. A tension reading is then taken to determine whether the minimum and maximum tension requirements are met for the specific diameter of the bolt.

We also offer pre-installation verification, which can be performed at your job site or in our Bronx, NY facility. A request for this test can be submitted when you place an order for tension control or structural bolts. We then prepare your order and separate lots for testing.

When your inspector is available to witness this process, we complete the pre-installation verification according to all bolt testing requirements. Our laboratory can test bolts up to 1 1/2" A490.
